Constable of Bromley Sawyer Nymph Rod 8′ 9″ #4 2 piece in as new condition
The split cane Sawyer Nymph rod by Constable of Bromley was made for Dermot Wilson’s Nether Wallop Mill in Hampshire. It is an 8’ 9” 2 piece, 4-weight rod with black silk wraps, a sliding cork reel seat and a ferrule plug. The serial number 870 is just above the fly-keeper ring. The rod is in its original Dermot Wilson cloth bag. It was purchased in 1981 and is still new and, unused.
From Dermot Wilson’s 1980 catalogue: 8′ 9″ Frank Sawyer Nymph Rod 41/2 oz. #4
“… Frank and the Mill got together to produce the best possible nymphing rod: a rod for a very light line, a rod responsive enough for quick tightening on a fish, a rod long enough to reach over weed-beds.”
“middle to butt action, inclining to butt. Hand made in built cane , with the emphasis on presentation with a light line. Housed butt cap and sliding reel-fitting. Shaped handle. Large diameter hard chrome tip rip, snake intermediates. Black tyings. 2 piece, 1 top.”
This rod is in excellent nearly new condition with just one or two very slight marks to the varnish in places.
It comes with its original labelled Dermot Wilson rod bag also in very good condition.
