TT opinion: As part of a 70+ Hardy reel collection just in, this super rare Hardy Perfect 2 1/2″ brass faced vintage trout fly reel, with brass face with all three Hardy logos – Rod in Hand, enclosed oval logo and straight line logo, brass straight foot ( not filed), four cusps to spool that is full of silk line, early 1896 internal check mechanism, brass bridged rim tensioner and original white handle. The alloy frame does have two very minor hairlines and some outer pillar wear as per the photos. All parts stamped ‘5’. A very rare reel that seldom comes to market in this, the smallest brass faced size made. Reel turns without any lumps, bumps or tight spots. All original. One for the serious Hardy reel collector.
