One of the most intricate of the Hardy casting reels is this, the Silex Multiplier. Launched in 1924, it remained in production until 1937.
This particular model with the external oil pipe was superseded in 1928 by an upgrade pattern so it’s a very short production run reel making it very collectable.
Designed to fit on top of the rod for light lines and low waters, it’s a real piece of art. Superb quality and working well even today. Someone must have sat for hours by the gas lamp designing this beauty.
Rarity aside, the original genuine Hardy fitted leather case is rarer than the reel. A great find to have the two still together after nearly 90 years, making it the ultimate pair for any Silex collector. Click here to buy it.
