Hardy Lightweight Double-Texture Wading Coat 1950

There can’t be many of these about now!

A vintage genuine Hardy “Lightweight” Double-texture Waterproof Wading coat bought as part of a vintage tackle collection this week.

A rare find, it appears in the 1950’s Hardy Anglers guide, shown by the red outline on the catalogue illustration.

A water and windproof coat in oil dressed cotton, not dissimilar to the current wax jackets of today. This material comprising of two sheets of cotton with fine rubber impregnated sandwich layer like the traditional Patent Mackintosh coats originally designed for military use. Featuring a stud up or down the lower panel to convert into a wading jacket, the coat also has leather-trimmed buttonholes and corduroy collar.

It’s in remarkable honest condition and when redressed with wax it will look amazing and live again.  Ideal for any museum-style display or to use as part of the traditional vintage look when fluff chucking with a Palakona rod and Perfect reel!
