The Universal Reel, Patent applied for

I have seen a few of these over the years but they generally have metal spools. This one has a turned wooden spool painted black from the factory.

The value is not high, perhaps £50-75, but they represent great value for money. The Patent is a rocking motion while the drum rotates almost as if the spool is warped, but it’s not.

The rock allows the line to be level laid for ease of casting, ingenious really. I hadn’t realised this, thinking the Patent was to do with the twisting foot, however the leaflet tells it all.

Additionally, they offer Service free feature albeit it I’ve had to fiddle with everything to make it work. What is strange, nowhere on the leaflet does it mention who made it?
