Here we have an extremely rare Hardy 5″ Brass Face Perfect salmon fly reel—one of only three or four known examples in this size. This is the exact reel illustrated in Graham Turner’s Fishing Tackle: A Collector’s Guide, page 148. The faceplate carries both the rod-in-hand and straight-line logos, along with a slightly unusual raised central boss. Features include long straight brass foot, 1905 check mechanism, and only minor line grooves to the pillars.
A truly exceptional reel that has been very well cared for by its previous owner—one for the serious Hardy collector and a world-class example of early Perfect production.
