Just arrived in stock and what an interesting reel.
A twisting foot tapered drum reel which has overtones of tournament or distance casting.
The backplate plate 4 screw brass boss is stamped Jack Penny, Leeds – who is he? Perhaps an angler or a retail shop? Maybe someone can fill in few of the blank info spaces here.
Certainly the brass fittings on the reel looks similar to Milward’s and Redmayne and Todd of Nottingham reels, perhaps made by Smith & Wall, but any info on Jack Penny will be appreciated to expand the story.
