Two Salmon and A C. Farlow cased Pike.

It has been a great couple of weeks for our Art and Cased Fish Sections. Several Cooper/Griggs fish have been sold and we have parted with the two magnificent Hardy carved salmon in a private sale.  A follow up to one of our newsletters led to the sale of both salmon to an enthusiastic collector. A blow to me personally as I have enjoyed admiring them for many years now.  It is amazing how many sales are made without items appearing on the site. If you are looking for something special it is aways worth emailing Dave Townsend on davetownsend@thomasturner.com

You never know what could be waiting for listing!

I now find myself looking at super models of dace and chub just 13” by 4.5” each. I really like these and again will be a reluctant sale. Made, painted and mounted by freelance artist and journalist David Carl Forbes in the 1960’s these were gifted to his good friend Peter Wheat and were illustrated in Peter’s “Pelham Manual of River Coarse Fishing in 1969. Page 89. Always a reminder of the difference between chub and dace they are now some 65 years old and not too imposing in any room. We also have on the site a rather splendid cast of a tench made by David. Together with Peter we are writing an article about David for the next issue of Classic Angling for those interested in angling in the 60’s.

We have some exciting new collections we are viewing and Dave is sending me off to Scandinavia
to view a large amount of Hardy and Bruce and Walker salmon tackle, equipment and flies.

Watch this space for developments.
