Floats and more floats

There is only one way to buy old floats and that’s in bulk!

This amazing float collection is part of a huge vintage tackle collection we have recently bought. To be accurate, it’s only part of the float collection.

Displayed on a custom-made three-tier setting, the floats span 100 years and are great fun to collect. Examples include Allcock’s famous Fishing Gazette cork pike bungs, many with labels, Sommers release float, Harcork floats in a multitude of sizes and colours, and who doesn’t remember the little perch bobber as their boyhood favourite?

Traditional quills nestle alongside celluloid and alloy examples, many of which I still prefer using today.

The two boxes at the base of the image are a superb collection of Zephyr Patent rolled paper floats in a variety of ages and patterns including tan, black and green examples, a few with the ultra-rare metal signal flags on top. Both sets are neatly presented in vintage hinged wood display boxes.

The Little Tip Top fishing floats is a rarity in its maker’s box. It’s a bite and pop up type with celluloid body and hinged cork topper. Made by J W Tunstall of Bolton, Lancashire, it’s a wee northern cracker!

All and more of the same are for sale on our website, plus many wooden winders and accessories too.
