A hand-carved trophy salmon carving with the following information on two plaques. “Weight 39 3/4 Ibs. Length 46″ Greatest girth 24 1/2” Caught Butler’s Pool. Glasbury on Wye. April 8th, 1927. By James Caird.” A “Hardy Brothers Ltd.” plaque is affixed to the lower left-hand corner of the plaque. Photograph of fish attached. Mounted on light oak board. 17 1/2″ by 52 1/2″.
This is a very rare and important Hardy salmon carving caught from the River Wye. One of the most impressive fish carvings we have seen and with great provenance.
