Denys Watkins-Pitchford (‘BB’) Original Carp Artwork with Provenance – Framed

A wonderful original artwork by renowned angler, naturalist and illustrator Denys Watkins-Pitchford (‘BB’), depicting a carp approaching a floating bait of bread. The artwork was reproduced as the chapter heading for Chapter 6, ‘The Lure of Big Fish’, in Ramblings of a Sportsman-Naturalist, published by Michael Joseph in 1979. The chapter recounts BB’s carp fishing experiences at the legendary Redmire Pool and Mapperley Reservoir.

This framed artwork carries exceptional provenance, having been gifted to Peter Wheat by BB’s friend and shooting companion Ray ‘Badger’ Walker. Included with the artwork are the original packing materials, a signed provenance note from Peter Wheat, a copy of his letter to Ray Walker dated 29 October 2001, and a photocopy of the artwork with additional handwritten notes identifying its publication history.
