TT opinion: Here we have an ultra rare Hardy 5″ Perfect brass faced salmon fly reel. Only a 3 or 4 examples in this 5″ size have ever come to light and this one is the exact reel in Grahams Turners ‘Fishing Tackle’ A Collectors Guide – Page 148. Reel has rod in hand straight line logo to face with unusual raised brass central boss, some minor line grooves to pillars, long brass straight foot and 1905 check mechanism. The reel has been well looked after for many years by the previous owner and this is a ‘must have’ for any serious Hardy collector.
