TT opinion: A unique rod having been bought by TT from the owner John Nixon. He moved in the carp angling elite circles of Richard Walker and Bernard Venables. He fished the world over catching the world record line class blue shark of 34 lbs. He took control of Creel magazine in 1963 from Bernard Venables, his fishing companion. He rubbed shoulders with Buller, Pritchard and Kefford among others. The November 22 edition of Classic Angling magazine carries the full story of how Nixon dropped off this rod and others at Dick Walker’s House to be reclaimed later. This rod is the one referred to in the article. B James of ealing london Richard Walker Mk4 S/U carp rod. Originally 10’ but with short tip making it approx. 9’6”. Heavy close whips, red agate butt and tip rings, bronze ferrule with stopper. 29” onion cork handle, sliding alloy reel rings and butt cap with a black rubber stopper. The rod is fishable today and makes an interesting historical connection between Nixon and Walker. Comes in a new replacement Thomas Turner cloth rod bag.
** All rods and reels include 12 months warranty only from Thomas Turner. Subject to T&Cs.**
