TT opinion: This is a stunning classic Shakespeare Beaulite salmon fly reel built for then by J W Young of Redditch. England, it screams quality all through and is in near mint condition as you will find. 33mm between spool plates so it’s a wide drum reel. Quick-release drum with black handle. Correct 67mm smooth alloy foot fitting 99% of salmon rod reel seats. The reel is fitted with a chrome plated inner frame line guide and it can be fished left or right-hand wind. The rear drag adjuster works well giving a powerful tension right back to a light check. The spool exposed rim is ideal for applying additional braking or palming tension. The crisp check clicker is provided through the twin V spring and steel pawl system, 100% factory original. Still one of the best value for money classic Redditch built salmon fly reels about and will last a lifetime if looked after.
