A rare Malloch’s of Perth patent Sun & Planet 3.5″ geared salmon reel with plated rims, brass foot plate, brass pillars and brass face plate with ‘Malloch’s Patent’. The reel action is driven by a system of gears inside the winding plate. The handle has a small cog (the “planet”) on the end which engages with the larger cog (the “sun”) attached to the drum spindle. A lovely well engineered reel.
