TT opinion: One of the best examples of this rare reel I have seen, and that’s not many. Patented in January 1912, the Kings Nottingham pattern reel is a spring twisting foot reel with a tournament-style tapered drum. Turn to cast, turn back to wind in. Factory brass line guide and original drum latch with turned white handle. Alloy star back stamped Kings Pat. No 1905/12. A brass on-off button on the alloy star back puts the check clicker on and off. The reel is complete, with no obvious damage and alterations. It fits well with other side-casting reels of the era such as Malloch of Perth, Farlow Turntable and others.
