Hardy Perfect Trout Fly Reel 3 3/8″ With 1912 Check Red Agate, rarely seen model
£1,249.00
A rare and fine Hardy Perfect 3 3/8” alloy trout fly reel with 1912 check and red agate line guide. A fresh to the market example and completely original. Factory white handle in brass cusp seat. The winding plate stamped Hardy’s Pat. Alnwick in center circle boss. The strapped tension regulator works well as does the 1912 internal check assembly. Correct 74mm smooth brass foot. The factory-fitted red agate line guide is correct with two hairlines. It comes in the original Hardy Pat. Nickle frame. The reel winds silky smooth and the check clicker purrs well. No drum rock or play, line burns or corrosion. A rare example in fine honest collectors condition and will be a welcome addition to any cabinet display
The Hardy Perfect fly reel was introduced in 1892. It took three years of testing and research to bring it to perfection. Hardy fearlessly claimed it to “be the best reel made anywhere” doing this with full knowledge of all the reels manufactured on either side of the Atlantic. The Perfect is one of the longest production reels in the world. The size range is comprehensive for both trout and salmon anglers with models from 2.5” in diameter to over 5” made to special order. The regulating check mechanism and running on ball bearings ensure it’s almost frictionless. A narrow drum core allows increased line capacity over large barrel reels. We highly recommended the Perfect reel to any fly angler whether they use greenheart, bamboo/cane, fibreglass, or carbon rods.
