TT opinion: A fine and rare Hardy The Palakona, 6′ two-piece split cane bamboo fly rod in fine condition. Rod No D/O, built for DW Coats in 1976. Honey colour cane, the guides whipped dark green, tipped light green, Bronze ferrule with polished alloy stopper. Keeper ring. 8.5″ shaped cork handle with light alloy reel fittings and butt cap. A stunning little rod, 100% original, straight and with a good tight ferrule. It’s a little beauty for small streams or river trout and grayling. Comes in the maker’s slightly oversize blue cloth bag and Hardy alloy carry tube.
