TT opinion:
A rare Hardy Combined Fly and Spinning reel dating 1894-98 only. This 4.5” diameter wide drum example is in the best collector condition and factory original throughout. Twin matching white handles, central drum screw, and OIL hole to the side of the central boss. Correct 100mm smooth brass foot, original brass pillars, and screws. A fully working ratchet check on-off button gives a smooth crisp ratchet click noise when engaged. The rear brass boss has a screw adjuster to the spool spindle. A rare Hardy collectors reel produced 1894-98 only. You will not see many on these and certainly not in this fine original condition. It retains most original black lead finish. It spins smooth, straight, and well and is a great addition to any collector’s cabinet.
