TT opinion:
A  fresh to the market antique Hardy 1897 Line Winder or drier in original condition. The cast-iron frame with brass mechanism and the arms are numbered 1 – 4. It can be secured to a table by way of a clamp on the base. This is the 1897 model with original green paint. Line winders were an important tool in the days of the silk line when one had to take the line off the reel for drying. It still has its use today for transferring fishing line from one reel to another. Measuring at 10 ½ ” H x 13 ” W x 4 ½ “/ 26 ½ cm H x 33 cm W x 11 ½ cm . Hardy makers name stamped to crank winding arm.  All 4 arms unscrew for carriage.
