TT opinion: Thomas Turner are very pleased to be selling this extremely rare stepped up Mark IV ‘Captain Croydon’ carp rod. The rod was handmade in 1964 for Ron Barnett by Bob Southwell. Ron Barnett was a very close fishing friend of over 50 years by Peter Wheat. It was gifted to Peter Wheat by Ron Barnett and often used when Peter went carp fishing to Beechmere pool in Devon. The rod is stepped up cane with red agate guides the rod has a smooth cork handle with alloy screw – in reel fittings and complete with dark green cloth rod bag. Part of the Peter Wheat Collection.
