TT opinion: Just in from our valuation day at Rod & Tackle in Newcastle, this very early ‘Ealing’ two piece Richard Walker, B James cane Avon rod. B James & son, Ealing, London, with long cork ‘TRUMPET’ shaped handle, 2 piece split cane rod, burgundy whipped with agate butt, bronze ferrule & wood stopper 28” cork handle with sliding alloy reel rings polished butt cap & red rubber button. Close whipped intermediates to tip. Nice tight ferrule. Nice straight rod, great early example or an J B James Avon rod with non related beige rod bag.
