A beautiful day at Blagdon

We arrived at the picturesque location of Blagdon Fishing Lodge at 9am for our fourth valuation day at the location. The lake was eerily quiet for such a fine sunny morning. As we were setting up we spoke to the Fisheries Manager who explained that the fishing has been particularly bad over the last week.  Hopefully our day wouldn’t be like this… it certainly wasn’t. As always Blagdon delivered the goods.

First person through the door was a gentleman I hadn’t seen for 30 years – my old French teacher, Mr Taylor. He didn’t reconise me but as soon as I explained who I was he went back 30 years and could even remember where I sat in his French class! Right at the front where he could keep an eye on me and the rest of the trouble makers!  William, our son, made him a cuppa while I checked out the tackle. A few G Loomis rods to include a rare Stream Dance GLX, a couple of Hardy reels and a very rare Bruce & Walker Ray Walton Hexagraph No 3 rod in superb original condition! Boom! First small collection purchased and what a start!

Abu Cardinal 3 Fixed Spool Reel With Box RARE

We bought various Sage rods to include SAGE X1 and the TCR,  a lovely Loop XACT plus a couple Mk II Hardy Perfect Trout sized reels, a couple of JW Youngs Purist, a nice Partridge 3400 reel and a very rare boxed Abu Cardinal 3 in minty condition! To name but a few.

Next through the door was an elderly gentleman and his wife who lived in central Somerset and turns out he fishes the same spots as me on the King Sedgemoor Drain. We chatted about the various methods we have used over the years to catch big Tench, Bream and some Roach and Hybrids. He gave me some really good tips so I will be down there in the next couple of weeks!

Check out the latest stock from Blagdon on our website as well as hoards of other quality tackle we having been buying in including a 150 reel collection with 50 Allcock Aerials!!! Yes 50!!!!! – I will be listing shortly!

As always if you have anything you wish to sell or have valued, please get in touch!
