TT opinion: Here we have quite a rare The Royal Avon made by Dave Ploughman. In excellent condition with twin tapered black handles, perforation to front face, 3 screw drum latch and 64mm straight foot. The reel runs smooth and straight. A super reel for Barbel, Chub and Carp. Dave Plowman’s reputation spread, at first locally, encouraging a few lucky individuals to persuade him to make several more bespoke reels in the 1980s. Only a handful of these reels were engraved with these details.
