Vintage anchor back Nottingham reel question

Curious thing wood reel collecting, there must be hundreds or even thousands of pattern variants to be had.  Good news for woodies like me.

This oddity appeared on the desk last week: a 4” diameter wood and brass Nottingham pattern “anchor back” reel with optional check.

Not seen another – could be English, could be Australian? Perhaps some keen-eyed wood collector out there knows and we’d like to hear where it was born.

It’s noticeably heavier than it looks, a wide drum with full brass inner flange lining, a working calliper check, flimsy line guide, turned wood handle on brass recess plates.

Good looking reel to sit in any collection, but who made it?
