Tackle Fairs are well worth a visit

Tackle Fairs are well worth a visit.

Having recently attended both Romsey and the Redditch tackle fairs, they are a must-visit event for any collector.

Redditch is the home of the needle, tackle and hook industry, and is a fitting location with easy road and rail access to the Midlands venue.

Run by John Andrews, it’s a slick operation and great fun.

It’s all well and good sitting on the PC being a keyboard warrior but there’s nothing like a hands-on tackle fair.

You get to see and handle old and new tackle which not only increases your knowledge but you meet collectors and traders alike from the UK and Europe.

Thomas Turner had a stall at the most recent fair and it was a great success.

Many clients brought tackle to us to sell and trade and we met friends old and new throughout the day.

Alison was back in her element on the front line with the cabinet displays, always a Scottish wee phrase or two to decipher.

Apart from the vintage element, you have modern reel makers, rod builders, artists, booksellers and even a chap who on the day was servicing Abu Cardinal reels making them sweet as sweet can be.

I could not believe the number of parts inside one of the reels. What’s more when he was finished there were no bits leftover!! How does he do that?

The Redditch fairs are May and November, you can watch our site for dates.

The Romsey tackle fair run by Steve Draper is just as successful and being near Broadlands, it nestles in beautiful surroundings on the River Test.

So, be there, bring along your surplus tackle to trade or sell to us on the day, call me on 07548 871985 first for information.
