I have always enjoyed collecting the mad vintage bait boxes, tins and traps anglers use to keep the bait fresh.
This caught my eye recently in a dollop of stuff and couldn’t resist it.
Probably European, it’s a 3” tall curved brass on zinc line bait tin shaped to fit into your pocket.
The ventilated lid pops off to show two hinged inner lids. The side of the tin has a glass window and bizarrely a glass separator!
This was perhaps designed by an insect friendly person who wanted the crickets, may flies and bugs to observe each other, prior to being impaled on a hook. A little like the Roman Colosseum, watching and waiting for it all to happen.
That said what a great bait box for the gadget collector with a story to tell every time.
